August 2023 Newsletter

August 3, 2023

We are halfway through the summer; can you believe it? We can! Red Bike is amazed by how much you are riding this year; we are having our highest ridership ever! The Red Bike office has been busy fixing bikes, installing new stations, planning parties, and even assembling new e-bikes and stations. We appreciate all the support our communities have continued to give us, and we cannot wait to grow more with you all!

Regional Trail & Bikeway Committee

Two folks from the Red Bike team are headed to the Digital Futures building on August 4th to discuss the Community Bike Routes program, which we announced earlier this summer. There will be multiple mini-presentations about projects in the tri-state that make our communities better for walking and cycling. Elese Daniel and Nate Weyand-Geise will be joined by Kathy Cunningham and Vincent Wilson from Queen City Bike, whose bicycling expertise helped to identify enjoyable and safe routes throughout the city. OKI Regional Council of Governments and Tri-State Tails will also speak at this event. Click here to learn more information.

Community Ride on August 6th

Red Bike is hosting another group ride, and this time, we are riding one of our many Community Routes! Meet us at the Red Bike station at Smale Riverfront Park, and we will bike across state lines and ride through Newport, Bellevue, and Dayton, Kentucky. Halfway through, we will stop at the new Roebling Point Books & Coffee location. Are you interested in joining us this Sunday? Click the link to RSVP!

Red Bike on WVXU

Did you tune into WVXU on August 2? If you didn’t, head to their website and listen to Doug talk with fellow bike lovers from MoBo Bicycle Co-op and Tri-State Trails about Red Bikes Community Routes, bike and road safety, system expansion, and bike infrastructure planning in Northern Kentucky.

Tour de CROWN

Grab your helmets and water bottles. The first-ever Tour De CROWN is on August 26th, starting at Fifty West Brewing Company! Red Bike will be tabling the event, and a few staff members are also riding! The Tour de CROWN has three different routes benefiting everyone and all abilities; whichever route you choose, you will have an intimate experience riding the trails. If this event sounds like the one for you, click on the Tri-State Trails website and register now!

UC Involvement Fair

Red Bike is attending the University of Cincinnati’s Involvement Fair on August 17th to inform the incoming and returning students about bikeshare as a transportation and recreation option for enjoying the city beyond the campus. In the first four weeks of classes, UC offers various programs demonstrating the excitement of being a Bearcat. Red Bike is thrilled to be attending this event, talking with the students, and helping them better understand how bicycling can positively impact their lives. If you know someone who attends UC, tell them to stop by our table to learn about Red Bike and grab some free stuff! Want to learn more? Click here
